Supporting Farmers Through
Framework on the Ground
Empowering farmers through sustainable agriculture practice by building capacity in sensor-based irrigation and precision farming
OVERVIEW
CSR
Project
"Upliftment of the Tobacco Farmers Ecosystem through IoT-Enabled and Sustainable Agricultural Practices" is a CSR initiative undertaken by Elitecon International Ltd. to strengthen livelihood resilience and promote responsible resource management within existing tobacco-growing communities. Implemented in close collaboration with the ICAR – National Institute for Research on Commercial Agriculture (ICAR-NIRCA), the project combines scientific expertise, structured farmer training, and technology-enabled interventions to advance sustainable agricultural practices, strengthen water stewardship, improve soil health, and reduce environmental footprints. The programme does not promote the expansion of tobacco cultivation and is focused on improving environmental efficiency and farm-level decision-making within current agricultural systems.

In partnership with NIRCA
Sustainability becomes meaningful when it moves beyond intent and shows up every day in farming decisions. The project brings this belief to life through close collaboration with ICAR–National Institute for Research on Commercial Agriculture (ICAR–NIRCA), a premier ICAR institute focused on research and actionable solutions for commercial crop systems. ICAR–NIRCA brings scientific rigour and strong on-ground validation, helping translate best practices into actions farmers can adopt with confidence. Through structured training, demonstrations, and locally relevant guidance, NIRCA strengthens water stewardship, improves soil health, and supports technology-enabled decision-making that reduces environmental footprints within existing tobacco-growing communities.
FUTURE
Building a
Sustainable Future
Elitecon’s approach is centred on enabling farmers to adopt practical, eco-friendly solutions that reduce water and energy consumption, improve productivity, and promote responsible land stewardship. The project aims to support this shift through focused, on-ground interventions.

Reduce irrigation water use by up to 50 to 60 percent

Cut energy consumption by 30 to 45 percent

Improve efficiency in fertiliser and nutrient application

Increase overall agricultural productivity

Encourage drone-enabled pest and disease management to reduce chemical use and manual labour
TECHNOLGY
Precision Tools
Purposeful Farming
From smart soil sensors and solar-powered controllers to drone-based pesticide application, Elitecon deploys IoT-enabled technology to help farmers use water, energy, and inputs more efficiently. Because better decisions on the ground build a more sustainable future for all.

Seamless Connectivity Through Smart Gateways
Smart gateways operating on 3G and 4G networks connect soil sensors and controllers to cloud-based platforms. This long-range gateway enables farmers to transmit vital field data across large distances, supporting accurate irrigation decisions. Compact sensors are placed directly into the soil without disturbing roots or crops, allowing continuous monitoring throughout the growing cycle.

Smart Field Controllers for Automated Water Management
Solar-powered field controllers continuously collect soil moisture data and regulate irrigation by opening or closing valves based on real-time inputs. These systems reduce water wastage, lower pumping costs, and support healthier crop growth by delivering the right amount of water at the right time.

Precision Water Measurement for Responsible Use
Water-flow sensors provide precise readings that help farmers track consumption and manage irrigation more responsibly, contributing to groundwater conservation and operating cost savings.

Intelligent Fertiliser
Management
Fertigation controllers use soil nutrient data to apply water-soluble fertilisers through drip systems in accurate quantities. This targeted method improves crop performance while reducing leaching, evaporation, and weed growth, resulting in healthier soils and lower input costs.

ACTION
Key
Interventions
The programme delivers integrated, on-ground support — combining precision irrigation, solar automation, drone technology, and farmer training into a single, outcomes-driven system. Every intervention is designed not just to improve yields, but to leave the land, water, and community better than before.
